Coconut Oil
Hair Strengthening & Protein Protection
What it is, what it's made of, what it does
Coconut oil comes from the white kernel of mature coconuts and is unusually rich in lauric acid (about 45–53% of its fatty acids), with myristic, palmitic, and smaller amounts of oleic and linoleic acids. A classic cosmetic science study (Rele & Mohile, 2003) showed coconut oil was the only oil that significantly reduced protein loss in both undamaged and damaged hair when used pre- and post-wash, compared to mineral and sunflower oil. That's why it's so strong for strengthening, anti-breakage, and "repair" claims.
