Direct Sourcing Model

Partner-Led Sourcing at Origin
We source baobab from reserved collection areas in Ghana's Upper East Region through a long-term partnership with the Widows and Orphans Movement (WOM). Instead of buying from open markets or itinerant traders, we work within WOM's organised network of communities, which gives us clarity on who is collecting, from where, and under what agreement.

Widows as Core Economic Participants
WOM's baobab programme is built around widows who often lose income and social protection after the death of a spouse. By organising them into collection and handling groups, and linking them to a predictable buyer, baobab becomes a structured livelihood activity rather than a one-off coping mechanism.

Processing & Quality Control in Bolgatanga
Seeds are delivered to WOM's baobab processing facility in Bolgatanga, where they are cleaned, sorted, and prepared for oil extraction under agreed standards. This creates a clear quality and traceability checkpoint at origin, before product enters the export chain.

Direct Sourcing with Clear Accountability
Our collaboration with WOM is a direct sourcing relationship: volumes, timelines, and quality expectations are agreed with them, not through layers of intermediaries. This allows us to maintain visibility over sourcing practices and income flows back to the women and communities involved.
