We source virgin coconut oil from communities in Ghana, São Tomé, and Côte d'Ivoire that operate within conservation-led supply chains. In Ghana, this includes the Ankasa–Tano CREMA, where land and forest use are managed under a shared conservation framework rather than open-access extraction.
Income Linked to Forest Protection
Under the Ankasa–Tano CREMA arrangements, communities earn from coconuts on the condition that they uphold agreed conservation rules. This means household income from our sourcing is directly connected to keeping forests standing, not to clearing land or engaging in destructive practices.
Conservation Premium for Biodiversity
In addition to paying for coconuts, we pay a conservation premium that supports protection of the Kwabre–Tanoe Forest, a key biodiversity hotspot. Working with partners such as WAPCA, NOE, and local CREMAs, this premium helps fund community-led monitoring and the protection of endangered primate species.
